Can I call PSTN or Mobile numbers.
At this time you cannot dial PSTN or Mobile services, we may include this in the future!
Can I call an Evolutiontel number from a PSTN or Mobile telephone.
You can dial in from a PSTN/Mobile phone using the SIPBROKER Service. Our access code is *623<Evolutiontel Number>. Refer to the SIPBROKER website for a list of access numbers.
If you have your own DID it can be forwarded to Evolutiontels SIP URI.
Are Emergency Services such as Police and Fire accessible via Evolutiontel.
NO, Please use another phone provider to access these services.
Is VOIP call clarity as good as PSTN?
While we make every effort to provide the best call quality, due to circumstances outside our control you may at times experience scratchy voice or echo. This is generally caused by the internets in-ability to provide a constant dedicated bandwidth required for VOIP calls.
Can I use my own phone.
Yes, you can use you own phone for Evolutiontels service. All that is required is a Analogue Telephone Adapter such as a Linksys SPA-3000.
Can I use Evolutiontel's service while travelling.
As long as you have access to broadband internet service, and the service provider allows access to ports used by SIP and Voice traffic.
Does my ATA or Softphone need to be registered with Evolutiontel.
Yes, to receive calls via Evolutiontel you will have to register your ATA or Softphone with us.
Can I bring my own ATA or Softphone.
Yes, Of course! However please understand that we have not tested all VOIP devices available on the market and thus cannot guarentee yours will be compatible. Having said that we will make an effort to find a work around.
What codecs are supported.
Essentially we support all codecs. However please note codec selection will be determined by the calling and called devices. I.E if you set your ATA to only use G729 and the number you are calling does not support this codec the call will fail. The best practice is to enable all codecs and set a low bandwidth codec such as G.729 or GSM as the preferred option.
What ports do I have to forward on my router or modem.
5060 and 5061 for signalling and typically 16384 to 16484 when using Linksys SPA. Xlite/Eybeam ports are defined in the Topology tab under User Settings.
